I asked him about an interview he had done for Starlog magazine where he had said he didn’t expect much attention from his role in Star Trek:

Yes, that was serious and I’m still not sure what to expect. I’m so un-Hollywood, so unlikely to be in Hollywood, not a typical actor to be here by any means. I can easily walk down the street and am recognized about twice a day. You can also walk down the street and not be recognized if you don’t want to be. At this point, I don’t find it annoying.

Siddig and also Rene Auberjonois were among several actors who didn’t want fan clubs because, as Siddig said:

I had always thought fan clubs were just a place where you bought merchandise and that was not my idea of fun. I never really understood the whole adulatory thing and never did like that.
